The Franco-Algerian singer, cellist and songwriter Nesrine is a "Scheherazade", a storyteller of our time. Their brand new album "Kan Ya Makan", Arabic for "once upon a time", is something like a modern collection of stories from One Thousand and One Nights.
The British TIMES calls Nesrine "a luminous, multilingual talent", and the SZ states: "Nesrine demonstrates what beauty can come from freedom." Her songs in Arabic, French and English are the essence of an eventful personal biography - between Algeria, her family's country of origin, and her current home Paris. Nesrine's artful, multifaceted songs are also the reflection of her diverse musical career. She has played as a classical cellist in Daniel Barenboim's East-Western Divan Orchestra, in the orchestra of the Valencia Opera under Lorin Maazel, and has appeared as a guest star with Cirque de Soleil. She gave up the security of a career as a classical orchestral musician in favor of her solo career - with success: She plays regularly in philharmonics, concert halls and festivals throughout Europe and the USA and has so far released two internationally acclaimed albums on the ACT label. At the beginning of 2024, a digital EP was also released, in which Nesrine plays her music together with the renowned Metropol Orkest. Today she exclusively presents her new, incredibly moving program.
